Dear Visitors
I welcome you to the Maltese Connections website.
As a first generation Maltese migrant living in Australia, it was always my dream to work with the Maltese community both in Australia and in Malta. This dream is becoming a reality through my academic journey that I resumed when I returned to study as a mature age student in 1990.
The idea to develop this website germinated these last 12 months since my graduation for my doctorate. It came to its fruition during my stay in Malta. Indeed, I’m giving birth to this project in the same house where I was born.

This website has a number of objectives:
- To continue to strengthen the relationships between the Maltese living in the Maltese islands and those who are living abroad
- To help the Maltese community to identify with their ethnic identity
- To give the Maltese community a voice – both at academic and community levels
- To share the Maltese culture with other ethnic communities at a global level
Although a number of features that are included in the website are still under construction, I decided to launch it while I’m still in Malta. I am leaving to go to Australia on the 9th December 2006. It is my intention to keep this website interactive through a number of features – including “The Boomerang Effect – Love Letters from Australia and Love letters from Malta”.
I would also like to point out that I am going to extend the Maltese Connections to other countries around the world. Indeed, I already made some preliminary contacts with the Maltese community in Canada and the United States.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my nuclear family – my husband Loiue, Michelle, Mark, Monique (our grand-daughter) and Loius (son-in-law). My gratitude is also extended to my extended family, especially my sister Maria and my brother-in –law Freddie.
