For these last 30 years, a Maltese Cultural Festival has been held by the Maltese community under the auspices of the Maltese Community Council of Victoria Incorporation. To celebrate this 30th anniversary and the opening of the Maltese Cultural Festival 2007 a grand concert was held at Victoria University, St. Albans. The Executive Director was Mr. George Saliba. The musical director was Mr. Vince Pulo.
The concert was divided in 2 parts. The first part included
- a performance by the Dance Enterprise Carnival
- Joan Drago who sang Aria from La Boheme and Serenata Maltija
- Steve Zammit who sang Moon dance and That’s life
- Lisa Farrugia who sang Turn me on
- Lisa and Taylor who sang Stupid cupid
- Fred and Annie Spiteri who sang Viva Malta and Mariquilla Bonita accompanied by the guitarist Paul Preston.
The second part included:
- Folk Feature
- Sarah Debono who sang The prayer and One moment in time
- Michelle Farrugia who sang What a wonderful world and smooth feelings
- The Journey – featuring Joan Drago and Dance Enterprise
- Aaron Theuma who sang You don’t have to say you love me Can you feel the love tonight
- Manuel Baldachino who sang The higher and higher and the wonder of you
- John, Lisa and Taylor (3 generations in one family)sang dejjem f’qalbi
This concert was highly successful. Amongst other things it was a testimony of the high quality of talent that exists among the members of the Maltese community.
