I am Maltese born. Born the day before the Doctor but in Lija, Malta of Maltese people. My birth name is Muscat. I am an ethnic Maltese but after living in Australia for 52 of my 56 years I am basically an Anglo Australian now. Interesting how two people born a day apart, the Doctor and I, can have such different life outcomes and attitudes to their Maltese origins. Best wishes to you.

Enjoyed reaeding your guestbook. I recently holidayed in Malta and enjoyed immensely after being away for 50 years. The infrasture has improved but more work needs to be done. The beauty of Malta and the surrounding islands is a joy to see and appreciate and Malta will always hold a special place in my heart.

Enjoyed your reading coments on guestbook. I also travelled to Malta 3 years ago with my mother and sisters and it was a real jouney of reminissance. We had such a lovely time visiting places of our childhood. Loved every minute of it.

To James B. I believe, you got one thing wrong. In 1900´s Malta and Gozo were much cleaner then it is today, based on your accounts below. Few cars and trucks. Plenty of horse drawn carts though and an occasional flock of goats and sheep. Granted, they were burning garbage and burning fields full of weeds during the summer months, then. However, most of the smoke went out to sea. Based on your comments and others, I feel sad that things have deteriorated so much. I left Xaghra, when I was 16. However, I do remember that things were not as you described.
