Il-Wirja ta’ l-Imnarja

Every year, for these last 3 years, the Malta Rabat Association in conjunction with the Maltese Cultural Centre hold the traditional Wirja ta’ l-Imnarja at Albion, in the Western suburbs of Melbourne. The display includes various fruits and vegetables, Maltese artefacts, birds and poultry. This year there was also a Maltese hunting dog that was brought over from Malta when it was a puppy. The aroma of Maltese traditional food embellished the atmosphere that took us back in time and space. The menu included stuffat tal-fenek (rabbit stew), patata l-forn bil-laham (potato in the oven with meat and onions) and tumpana (pasta dish). A group of ghannejja entertained the audience with traditional ghana. The Maltese Consul General in Melbourne, Ms Angele Azzopardi and her family attended this function.
