Every year the Australia Xaghra Association organises a picnic at Brimbank Park, in the Western Metropolitan area of Melbourne. Quite a number of people (both from Xaghra and other villages) attend this event. It’s a great atmosphere! People who haven’t seen each other for quite some time have the opportunity to catch up with each other. The deep connections that we have as Maltese / Gozitans is deeply felt on such occasion. Traditional games such as ‘tombola’ and ‘bocci’ take us back home, down memory lane!
Unfortunately, this year Fr. Victor Bonello did not attend this picnic for health reasons. He used to come every year. It was always a great pleasure meeting him. Fr. Victor we missed you a lot!!! But I can assure you were very much in our thoughts.
I would like to thank the committee members of the Xaghra Association for organising this event and for providing free barbeque and drinks. Their arduous work is great appreciated.
